Dodgers vs. Blue Jays Prediction for Monday
In a World Series rematch, I’m backing the visitors to win outright for my Dodgers vs. Blue Jays prediction on Monday.
Max Scherzer, who is among the oldest MLB players this season at 41, had a solid first start. He gave up one run on four hits in six innings against the Colorado Rockies. But I don’t really need to explain how the Dodgers are a step up in competition compared to the Rockies.
Even with Mookie Betts landing on the injured list, Los Angeles has a dominant lineup against right-handed pitchers. The Dodgers have a wRC+ of 149 against right-handed pitchers so far this season.
The Blue Jays, meanwhile, are below average (93) against left-handed pitching. That should give lefty starter Justin Wrobleski some wiggle room, even if Toronto doesn’t chase very much as a team.
Mariners vs. Rangers Prediction Tonight
I’m taking another road team to win on Monday night in my Mariners vs. Rangers prediction.
In March, I made the case for backing the Mariners in the preseason MLB best record odds at +1800. I viewed Seattle as the best team in the American League by a comfortable margin.
The Mariners have gotten off to a slower start at 4-6, but that’s provided an opportunity to take a plus-money price on them defeating a division rival with their ace on the mound. Gilbert has coughed up eight runs through two starts, but he’s introduced a second offspeed pitch with a changeup that complements his filthy splitter.
I could see the Rangers struggling with this new-look Gilbert on Monday, especially since they have hit .135 in 138 plate appearances against him.
