Athletics vs. Blue Jays Prediction for Friday
I’m backing two of the better lineups in the league by taking the over on the full-game total (8.5) for my Athletics vs. Blue Jays prediction on Friday.
Coming off a loss in last year’s World Series, the Blue Jays spent more than $169 million in the offseason to improve their roster. They added Jesus Sanchez and Kazuma Okamoto to a lineup that scored the fourth-most runs in baseball last year.
At the same time, I like the Athletics’ offense to take another step after scoring the 12th-most runs in baseball last year. During the back half of the 2025 regular season, the Blue Jays led the majors in runs, and the A’s ranked ninth.
If they pick up where they left off, I like a high-scoring affair in the opener.
Royals vs. Braves Prediction for March 27
I’m backing the underdog in my Royals vs. Braves prediction for Friday’s season opener.
I’m high on the Royals’ chances this year, which is why shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. and manager Matt Quatraro were featured in my preseason MLB award predictions. Left-hander Cole Ragans also has a chance to compete for a Cy Young trophy if he can stay healthy. He ranked second in the majors with a K-BB% of 30.4% over the final month of the regular season.
The Braves are sending out left-hander Chris Sale, who is two years removed from winning a Cy Young trophy. But the Royals’ lineup has improved, with eight of their nine hitters projected to be above league average, per wRC+.
I like Kansas City (+125) to win outright tonight.
Diamondbacks vs. Dodgers Prediction Tonight
In the final game of Friday’s slate, I like the over on the full-game total (8.5) for my Diamondbacks vs. Dodgers prediction.
Anyone who watched last night’s game noticed how quickly the Los Angeles lineup can score in bunches. The Dodgers went scoreless through four innings before putting up four runs in the fifth and four more in the seventh of their 8-2 win.
And that was with each team trotting out their best pitcher.
With Ryne Nelson starting for Arizona and Emmet Sheehan getting the nod for Los Angeles, I’ll take a similar over to last night’s total.
