The Kansas City Royals have a win total of 82.5 entering the 2026 season, per the latest MLB win totals market at the BetMGM online sportsbook.

  • Under 82.5 wins: -115

Royals Win Total Prediction 2026

  • Lean over 82.5 wins

Based on the updated MLB betting odds, I lean toward taking the over on the Royals’ win total of 82.5 for the 2026 season.

To be honest, I prefer the +2000 price tag on Matt Quatraro’s Manager of the Year odds instead of taking this win total. If the Royals cleared this win total (and potentially won their first division crown since 2015), Quatraro would have a case to win AL Manager of the Year.

This year’s Royals team does possess that level of upside. PECOTA released its projections this week, predicting Kansas City to win the division with 85 wins. For context, the Detroit Tigers are division favorites in the latest AL Central odds.

I think this division race will be closer than expected, especially if the Tigers are tempted by a Tarik Skubal trade offer in the final year of his deal. Kansas City, meanwhile, projects to be a buyer this year as it’s still seeking one more outfielder.

After having one of the worst outfields in baseball last season, the Royals traded for Isaac Collins, who came in fourth in the 2025 NL Rookie of the Year race. They are also banking on a big second-year jump from Jac Caglianone, who has an average bat speed (77.4 mph) that ranks among the best in baseball.

If the outfield shows improvement, the Royals suddenly have a solid lineup led by Bobby Witt Jr. Maikel Garcia is coming off a breakout season, while Carter Jensen is among the top contenders in the AL Rookie of the Year race. Salvador Perez still has plenty of pop and might have more with the outfield fences moving in this year.

That lineup could be more than enough support for a deep pitching staff, especially if Cole Ragans can return to form after making 13 starts in 2025.

After a surprise playoff appearance in 2024 and posting a winning record in 2025, the Royals can prove they are here to stay with another strong season this summer.
