The Padres are one of six active teams in Major League Baseball to have never won a World Series title. The others are the Texas Rangers, Milwaukee Brewers, Seattle Mariners, Colorado Rockies, and Tampa Bay Rays.
Founded in 1969, the Padres won two NL pennants in 1984 and 1998 but lost the World Series both years. The team has reached the postseason seven times in total, most recently in 2022, when they won the Wild Game Series and the NL Division Series, but were ultimately eliminated by the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLCS.
