Sports Equinox Predictions: Tonight’s Predictions for NFL, MLB, NBA & NHL

Another sports equinox has arrived.

This is a day when four major professional sports leagues will be in action, including Monday Night Football, World Series Game 3, 11 NBA games, and 2 NHL matchups.

In addition, there are MLS playoff games, collegiate football, and WWE. There are plenty of sports to watch on Monday.

For these sports equinox predictions, I’ve focused on the four major men’s American professional sports leagues.

Sports Equinox Predictions: Monday, Oct. 27

  • NFL: Patrick Mahomes under 0.5 interceptions thrown (-145)
  • MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers F5 moneyline (-190)
  • NBA: Portland Trail Blazers moneyline (-145)
  • NHL: Sidney Crosby over 0.5 points (-220)

– A four-leg parlay pays out +509 as of Monday morning

Patrick Mahomes Under 0.5 Interceptions

As Nick Hennion shared in his Chiefs vs. Commanders prediction, he’s on the under for Washington’s team total (18.5).

However, I prefer backing the best player in the league on Monday Night Football when the Kansas City Chiefs host the Washington Commanders at 8:15 p.m. ET in Arrowhead Stadium on ABC/ESPN.

Mahomes, who is back to leading the NFL MVP race, is coming off consecutive three-touchdown performances. He now has 14 passing touchdowns and four rushing scores on the year.

I’ve been just as impressed with his ability to take care of the ball. Mahomes has only thrown two interceptions all season. I’d be surprised if he’s asked to do too much in a game Kansas City is favored by double-digits, so I’ll take the under on his interceptions prop.

Los Angeles Dodgers F5 Moneyline

As mentioned in my Blue Jays vs. Dodgers prediction, I believe Los Angeles will get off to a fast start in Game 3 of the World Series at 8 p.m. ET in Dodger Stadium on FOX. I like their odds to score the first run (-110) and their F5 moneyline price tag (-190).

Either way, I’m fading Toronto starter Max Scherzer. He held the Seattle Mariners to two runs on three hits in 5 2/3 innings during the ALCS. However, he closed the regular season with four or more runs allowed in five of his final six starts.

The Dodgers should have more success against Scherzer, which is why Ballpark Pal’s model projects them to lead by a 3.07-1.79 margin after the first five innings.

Portland Trail Blazers Moneyline

Both teams will be playing on the second night of a back-to-back when the Los Angeles Lakers welcome the Portland Trail Blazers at 10:30 p.m. ET on Monday at Crypto.com Arena on NBA League Pass.

The Trail Blazers (1-2) weren’t able to get enough production in their half-court offense on Sunday, losing 114-107 to the Los Angeles Clippers. The Lakers (2-1) earned an upset road win (127-120) over the Sacramento Kings, thanks to a 51-point performance from Austin Reaves without Luka Dončić and LeBron James.

Los Angeles will continue to be without Dončić and James. Gabe Vincent was also seen in a boot after Sunday’s win. Marcus Smart left the game in the fourth quarter, though he did eventually return. Basically, the Lakers don’t have the depth to overcome this for a second straight night.

At the same time, the Trail Blazers’ lone win came when the Golden State Warriors came to town on the second night of a back-to-back. Their young roster can rebound, and a matchup against the Lakers’ defense could help them find more offensive success.

I like Portland’s moneyline value at -150 or better.

Sidney Crosby Over 0.5 Points

It just feels right to close out my sports equinox predictions with a play on Sidney Crosby. The Pittsburgh Penguins center continues to defy Father Time at 38 years old, recording six goals and five assists for 11 points through nine games.

Crosby has cleared this prop in six of his nine contests, with two of the exceptions being matchups against the New York Rangers. The Rangers are allowing 2.6 goals per game.

The St. Louis Blues, meanwhile, are giving up 4.13 goals per contest for the second-worst clip in the league.

Monday’s matchup between the Blues and the Penguins will begin at 7 p.m. ET on NHL Network.
