Monday Night Football Bets: Top 3 Wagers for the Bears at Steelers

In Week 9, the Chicago Bears will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Bears desperately need a win to stay competitive in the NFC North, while the Steelers have risen toward a Wild Card spot for the playoffs.

The latest NFL betting lines show that the Steelers (-6.5) are currently favored to win by a touchdown. But is the point spread a good bet for this prime-time matchup?

Here are the top three Monday night football bets this week.

Best Monday Night Football Bets

The best Monday night football bets for the Bears vs. Steelers might include the point spread. The Steelers won outright last week against the Cleveland Browns, 15-10, even though they were the underdog in that matchup.

For the Steelers to cover against the Bears, they’d need to win by at least a touchdown at home. Their home record this season stands at 2-2. Only two of their wins have been by seven points or more.

Week 5 was the only time the Steelers won by more than a touchdown at home. In that game, they beat the Denver Broncos, 27-19.

In Week 1, they won on the road against the Buffalo Bills, 23-16. The Bills are one of the top favorites this year to win the Super Bowl.

The Steelers sputtered quite a bit after that game, but quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been playing much better football recently. As a result, he’s due for a big game on prime time.

The Steelers haven’t been great against the spread, but neither has Chicago, who’ve lost three straight by an average of almost 19 points.

I like the Steelers to cover the spread at home on Monday night.

Does the Over-Under Have Any Potential?

Last week against the Browns, the Steelers defense gave up only 10 points. The Bears put up 22 against the San Francisco 49ers, but they only scored 37 points combined in their previous three games.

Both the Steelers and Bears have hit the under for their games six times this season. The over-under for Monday night’s game is currently at 40, which is rather low.

The odds for the over or under to hit are the same. Likely, that won’t change until game time.

I doubt either team will get into the 20s unless the running game breaks open for the Steelers or the Bears. I like the under here.

Monday Night Football Prop Bets

That brings us to the prop bets for Monday night football. (Unless you think the Bears have some potential for a +225 money line.) There are a few good ones.

First, I like the +310 odds that neither team scores 20 points. To me, that’s worth at least a small wager.

Also, the Bears are getting +120 to score first on Monday night. It’s possible.

You could even double down on that bet. There are +140 odds that the team that scores first won’t be the one to win the game.

Finally, there’s a wager that neither team will score three times in a row at +175. That’s an excellent payout for bettors, and given that both teams have struggled offensively, it’s not a bad bet.
