College football fans got to enjoy one of the most exciting slates of games in recent memory last Saturday. Week 6 college football lines lived up to the hype and produced an array of wild finishes, shocking upsets, and a day full of all-around action that left armchair quarterbacks on the edge of their seats.
Fans watched the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide lose their first game in over a year on a walk-off field goal. Notre Dame Fighting escaped defeat with a last-second kick of their own, and the heavily favored BYU Cougars lose their hopes of a perfect season with a turnover-filled home loss. The list goes on, but if last week was a preview for what’s to come, the rest of the season should be exciting. Let’s take a look at some of the NCAAF best bets for Week 7.
No. 11 Kentucky at No. 1 Georgia (-23.5)
There’s a new top dog in college football, and it’s of the Bulldog variety. With Alabama’s loss, the Georgia Bulldogs now claim the throne and are heavily favored in one of the marquee matchups of Week 7. The betting lines currently have the Bulldogs as a 23.5-point favorite.
It’s a huge number considering the Wildcats are a 6-0 SEC team themselves. But Georgia’s ferocious defense has looked dominant this year, and they have outscored opponents 239-33. So bet on Kentucky at your own risk.
No. 12 Oklahoma State at No. 25 Texas (-5.5)
In a week that doesn’t feature quite the same amount of big games between ranked opponents as Week 6 did, this certainly qualifies as one of them.
The 5-0 Oklahoma State Cowboys take on the Texas Longhorns, who suffered a last-second loss to Oklahoma last week. They could still win the Big 12, but a Longhorns loss this week would be devastating. Look for Texas to bounce back big this week.
UCF at No. 3 Cincinnati (-20.5)
Cincinnati has been impressive the last few years but has never quite had the same spotlight they have on them this year. Now that the Bearcats are the third-ranked team in the nation, how will they respond to the pressure?
After crushing Temple 52-3 last week, Cincinnati faces one of the biggest challenges remaining on their schedule against the UCF Knights. Injuries have plagued the Knights this year, and I don’t think they have the firepower to hang with the Bearcats in this one.
No. 5 Alabama at Mississippi State (+17.5)
Alabama has finally come back down to earth. If you follow the Crimson Tide, you’ve probably noticed a few cracks starting to develop in the last few weeks, and the dam finally broke in Week 6 in a thrilling loss to Texas A&M.
Their defense has looked susceptible the last few games, which makes this one a very intriguing matchup.
Mississippi State has already beaten the Texas A&M team that just took down the mighty Crimson Tide.
I feel the smart money will be on Mississippi State this week, and I like these betting odds.
