After signing with the Los Angeles Lakers in early July, Deandre Ayton will become the ninth former No. 1 overall pick to be teammates with LeBron James when they ultimately share the floor during the 2025-26 NBA season.

No player in NBA history has played with more former No. 1 overall picks than James.

James, entering his 23rd year in the league since being the top pick in 2003, has had the opportunity to play alongside many talented players throughout his illustrious career. However, many of the former No. 1 overall picks were reclamation projects or veterans making one last stop before retirement.

The biggest success stories were Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving, both of whom played pivotal roles in helping James win an NBA championship.
