Detroit Pistons center Jalen Duren’s offseason got a bit more interesting after a disappointing playoff run.

Duren is a restricted free agent this summer, but will Detroit want to pay the price to keep him?

Jalen Duren Next Team Odds & Favorites

The BetMGM online sportsbook doesn’t have a market for Duren’s next team, but the Pistons would be the favorites to bring him back.

Duren, 22, is coming off his first All-NBA campaign in his fourth season. He averaged 19.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game for a Detroit team that finished first in the Eastern Conference.

However, Duren wasn’t nearly as effective in the playoffs. He averaged 10.2 points and 8.5 rebounds per contest, as the Cleveland Cavaliers eventually eliminated the Pistons in Round 2.

It’s unclear if Duren’s postseason performance will change the Pistons’ plan for their young center. They can match any offer that Duren could get in free agency.

According to Stephen Noh’s NBA salary model, Duren was worth $33.1 million in 2025-26 and is projected to be worth $39.1 million next year. He could make more than $40 million in the open market.

I’d make the Pistons the favorites to bring back Duren, but keep an eye on the Los Angeles Lakers as a potential threat to land the talented big man.

Jalen Duren Next Team Prediction

I’d be surprised if Duren left Detroit. I fully expect the Pistons to sign him to a lucrative deal this summer.

The player is in a difficult position as a restricted free agent, especially given that teams rarely plan to have cap space in the current NBA landscape.

Los Angeles could be a rare cap space team this summer and have a desperate need to give Luka Dončić a franchise center. But the Lakers also want to bring back Austin Reaves, so I’d be surprised if they made a move for Duren unless it involved a sign-and-trade between those two players.

The most likely outcome is that Detroit keeps Duren. The Pistons aren’t going to overreact to one playoff run after watching Duren’s growth for the past four years.

This season, Duren increased his scoring average by nearly eight points per game compared to his 2024-25 campaign. He helped the Pistons stay afloat during Cade Cunningham’s late-season absence due to a collapsed lung.

The Pistons would love to have a secondary creator next to Cunningham, but Duren is too talented to let him walk out the door this summer.
