I like the over on the Jazz’s win total (35.5) in what should be a much stronger season for a team that’s been near the bottom of the standings lately.
The market clearly agrees that the Jazz will be a much-improved squad. Their win total is 17 games higher than last year’s over/under, marking the biggest improvement of all 30 teams.
Utah is finally done with its tanking era after landing Darryn Peterson following a 22-60 campaign. Peterson could immediately contend in the Rookie of the Year race due to his dynamic scoring ability.
But Peterson won’t have to do too much by himself in Year 1. Lauri Markkanen is still the team’s best player, while Keyonte George is coming off a breakout campaign. Utah also traded for Jaren Jackson Jr. at last year’s deadline.
Honestly, had the Jazz not traded away center Walker Kessler, I’d probably have argued they are a top-six team in the West. They can get by with their current center rotation, but the loss of Kessler probably limits their upside.
Nobody is happier to be playing competitive basketball in Utah than head coach Will Hardy, who has been with the team for four seasons. He’s probably an underrated coach due to the circumstances of his tenure.
