But as is the case with both events slated for Saturday night of All-Star weekend, a rookie is the betting favorite. Charlotte Hornets guard Kon Knueppel enters as the betting favorite to become the first rookie ever to win the 3-point contest.

Who Will Win the 2026 NBA 3-Point Contest?
Based on the latest NBA betting lines, Kon Knueppel is the betting favorite to win this year’s 3-point contest. At +275, he has an implied probability of 26.67%.
It’s telling that Knueppel is the favorite of a loaded field as a rookie. Since being the No. 4 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Knueppel is averaging 18.9 points per game. He’s knocking down 3.4 triples per contest, shooting 43.1% from long range.
However, history isn’t on Knueppel’s side. A rookie has never won the 3-point contest. And the way the rest of the board is set up, there is likely more value in fading Knueppel this weekend.
I can’t help but be tempted by Damian Lillard, who has been out all year with an Achilles injury. This will be the first chance to see him on the hardwood since returning to the Portland Trail Blazers.
Lillard certainly has more of a track record than the betting favorite in this event. He’s won this event two times in the past three years, becoming the 3-point champion in 2023 and 2024.
With a victory on Saturday, Lillard would match Larry Bird and Craig Hodges for the most 3-point contest victories in the history of this event.
This time last year, Lillard was the betting favorite (+300) in the event before being eliminated in the first round. Don’t be surprised if he bounces back in 2026.
