Timberwolves vs. Spurs Prediction: Game 5 Odds & Best Bet

BetMGM OfferBetting Promos

With the series tied at 2-2 in their Round 2 matchup, the San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves will clash in a pivotal Game 5 at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio on Peacock.

San Antonio is a 9.5-point favorite with Victor Wembanyama not facing a suspension after his ejection in Game 4. My Timberwolves vs. Spurs prediction is targeting Wembanyama on Tuesday.

Timberwolves vs. Spurs Prediction: Tuesday, May 12

  • Victor Wembanyama under 3.5 assists (-150)

Based on the current NBA betting lines, I like the under on Victor Wembanyama’s assist prop (3.5) for my Timberwolves vs. Spurs prediction ahead of Tuesday’s Game 5.

Wembanyama was never going to be suspended for his reckless elbow on Naz Reid in Game 4.

However, this could be an opportunity to fade some potentially inflated props on Wembanyama. His points + rebounds + assists combo line is trading at 43.5 after closing at 42.5 last time out. It’s fair to assume that people will want to back a motivated Wembanyama.

Of all his markets, I prefer the under on Wembanyama’s assists in Game 5. He’s finished with three or fewer dimes in seven of his eight games this postseason, averaging 2.1 assists. He’s producing 3.8 potential assists and 28.3 passes per contest in the playoffs.

In fact, Wembanyama hasn’t had more than six potential assists in any game this postseason.

All those passing metrics are down compared to his regular-season metrics, which makes sense because Wembanyama has focused more on scoring, and teams are playing better defense overall.

I’m comfortable with the -150 vig to back the under on 3.5 assists for Wembanyama.

Prediction: Victor Wembanyama under 3.5 assists (-150)
