If a team is -6 in NBA betting at BetMGM, they’re a favorite of six points. Their opponent, the underdog, would be +6.
To cover the spread (-6), the favorite must win the game by at least seven points.
To cover the spread (+6), the underdog must lose by five points or less or win the game.
Overtime is included in the final score that determines the spread outcome.

Memphis Grizzlies (-6, -110) at Utah Jazz (+6, -110)
The Grizzlies are the road favorite (-6), and the Jazz are the home underdog (+6).
If Memphis wins by at least seven points, they cover. If Utah loses by five points or less or wins the game, they cover the spread.
Here are some score examples:
Grizzlies 120, Jazz 113: The Grizzlies win by seven points and cover the spread.
Grizzlies 108, Jazz 102: The Grizzlies win by six points and push.
Jazz 121, Grizzlies 119: The Jazz win by two points and cover the spread.
Payout for -6 Spread in NFL Betting
Miami Heat (-6, -110) at Toronto Raptors (+6, -110)
The odds beside the spread determine the payout. In this Heat-Raptors example, the odds for each spread (-6 and +6) are -110. The odds can vary for games; they could be +115, +100, -105, -110, or another value.

With -110 odds, a winning bet with a $50 stake would return $95.45 (including stake).
At -105 odds, a winning bet with a $50 stake would return $97.62 (including stake).
If a spread bet pushes, the stake is refunded.
