Heading into the Sweet 16, the ACC is 5-7 with only one team left in the field.

Putting the ACC’s Poor NCAA Tournament Performance In Context

As a general rule, I think conference records in the NCAA Tournament are over-utilized as a report card for conference strength. In this case, though, the ACC’s poor 2026 tournament performance mirrors its overall positioning in 2026.

Duke is very good, and one or two teams would be better if they were healthy. But generally speaking, this is the least relevant ACC basketball has been in a long time.
