The Big 12 tournament has been won by four different teams over the last four years. All four advanced to the second week of the NCAA Tournament.

Three made the Elite Eight. Two made it to the national championship game.

That’s because the Big 12 has consistently produced some of the top performers over the last decade of March Madness. As a result, the Big 12 men’s basketball tournament has become one of the top attractions before Selection Sunday.

Many Big 12 fans will tell you one of the central conflicts of the conference bracket is the inherent advantage Kansas receives by playing with a de facto home-court advantage in Kansas City.

But the Jayhawks haven’t won the Big 12 tournament since 2022 – the year they also won the national championship. They’ve only lifted the conference tournament trophy once since 2019.

The top of the Big 12 has consistently delivered excellent competition. With three teams in the KenPom Top 10 this season, the 2026 tournament will be no exception.

Here’s the current layout of the Big 12 men’s basketball tournament, if the season ended today.
