Once men’s college basketball reaches January conference play, it’s normal for each conference to settle into a routine schedule. Most teams will play two conference games per week on preset days.

Almost everyone plays on Saturday. Each conference decides which day it wants to play its other games on. Sometimes, they’ll split those games between two days.

For example, the CAA typically plays on Thursdays and Saturdays. The Patriot League traditionally plays on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

There are plenty of exceptions to this. For example, high-major conferences will often divide up their game schedule to accommodate TV networks, splitting marquee games across Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

There’s also some schedule warping at the beginning of conference play, or at the end of February, or in the aftermath of a severe weather event. (During college basketball season, that’s usually bad snow or ice that affects travel plans.)

But most conferences – especially mid-majors or low-majors – have a baseline for their conference schedule. So if you’re trying to learn a particular conference’s schedule, this chart could help.
