Saint Peter’s vs. North Carolina Analysis
After fading Saint Peter’s in the Sweet 16, I have officially given up using predictive metrics to determine whether to bet on this team or not. They continue to defy the odds by not only covering against, but beating teams no one expects them to beat time and time again.
As for North Carolina, it’s been somewhat similar. The Tar Heels have covered every game of the tournament thus far and are seeming to be playing their best basketball of the season heading into this one.
There is one stark contrast that could benefit Saint Peter’s in this matchup. The Peacocks rank 17th in the nation in bench minutes while North Carolina ranks a lowly 343rd. That is such a large contrast that the “Iron Five” of starters that see 30 or more minutes may struggle to keep up with the ten-man rotation that Saint Peter’s head coach Shaheen Holloway rolls with that keeps their guys fresh.
Between that and the determination as well as toughness this team has shown, my online bet is on the Peacocks.
