Miami (OH) has become a fan favorite team this year after the RedHawks completed an undefeated regular season.

After losing in the MAC tournament, many college basketball fans hoped the NCAA Selection Committee would extend Miami an at-large bid to compete in the NCAA Tournament.

Fortunately, they did just that. NCAA Tournament fans will enjoy a Wednesday appetizer in the First Four as Miami faces off against an opponent from a major conference.

Miami (OH) vs. SMU: NCAA Tournament First Four

Despite Miami’s incredible 30-win season, it has yet to earn a Quad 1 win this year.

From a metrics standpoint, a neutral-site win over SMU would rate as the best win of Miami’s season. SMU is ranked 42nd in KenPom; previously, its best win was against No. 64 Akron.

Perhaps that’s why SMU opened as a significant favorite on Sunday evening.
