Player props can be an advantageous section of the sportsbook for bettors who closely follow a specific team or conference. Fans and specialists will often know more about a small group of teams or players than any online sportsbook.
That’s why NCAA player props are a popular niche for some bettors.
Take the late 2026 college basketball season, for example. When Caleb Wilson got hurt, many hardcore UNC fans could likely project how Hubert Davis might adjust the lineup and minutes distribution in the wake of his absence. That could lead to college basketball betting opportunities in the prop market.
But here’s the rub. College player props are a highly regulated market, even in states and localities that allow sports betting. That often leads to a fair bit of confusion about where bettors can or can’t bet NCAA player props.
Fortunately, I’ve compiled an updated list for you here.Â
This list is accurate as of Feb. 18, 2026. It does not include Puerto Rico or Ontario, which are BetMGM municipalities that allow NCAA prop betting but are not US states.Â

States Where NCAA Player Props Are Allowed, With Specific Restrictions
This is the middle ground, full of grey areas and specific restrictions.
In the world of college sports betting, the most common restriction states impose is that they prevent bettors from wagering on games involving teams from their own state. Typically, that includes player props.
Thus, these states generally allow betting on player props, but they’ll restrict users from betting on any team, player, and/or event that’s based in their own locality: Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin, plus Washington, D.C.
Nebraska has a unique version of this rule that prohibits an in-state player and requires the out-of-state player to be at least 19 years old.Â
In Indiana, bettors are allowed to bet on NCAA player props, but only before the event begins. Live player prop betting is restricted.
In Montana and New Mexico, college player props are only allowed at retail sportsbooks. You can’t bet them via regular online sports betting.Â
In West Virginia, regulations are generally pretty light, but the state does prohibit handicappers from getting involved with college basketball player props – specifically in postseason basketball tournaments other than the NCAA Tournament! Regular-season props are fair game.Â
