SMU’s early loss in the ACC Tournament may have Mustang fans sweating on Selection Sunday.

Southern Methodist has been expected to make the NCAA Tournament throughout the final weeks of the season, thanks largely to good nonconference wins against Mississippi State and Texas A&M.

But now, as an ACC team that couldn’t even win half its conference games and didn’t add much to its resume this week, the team will be sitting on the edge of its seat all weekend.

SMU NCAA Tournament Prediction

I am predicting SMU will make the 2026 NCAA Tournament.

The 8-10 ACC record looks bad because it is, but the Mustangs’ metrics are clearly better than some of the other NCAA Tournament bubble teams vying for the final at-large bids.
