West Virginia has put together a decent record so far in Ross Hodge’s first season in Morgantown. At a glance, they might look like an NCAA Tournament team.

But the Mountaineers have mostly acquired that record in Quad 3 games. In three conference games against top Big 12 opponents, they’ve lost by an average of 28 points.

As of Jan. 28, WVU isn’t even considered a bubble team.

West Virginia March Madness: Last Season

WVU was a true NCAA Tournament snub in 2025. The Mountaineers were 19-12 with strong wins over Gonzaga, Arizona, Iowa State, and others.

The tournament committee elected to put in bigger brands with lesser resumes, like Texas and North Carolina.

West Virginia NCAA Tournament Prediction

I am predicting that West Virginia will miss the NCAA Tournament unless it wins the Big 12 Tournament.

West Virginia In the Final Four

If you think WVU can go on a run in March, secure the autobid, and stay hot in the Big Dance, you can get a very fat price on WVU basketball odds at BetMGM.

Right now, the Eers are 100-to-1 to win their region and head back to the Final Four for the first time in 16 years.
