Once football season is over and March Madness arrives, college basketball odds take over the US online sports betting market. For a couple of weeks in March, brackets and betting are practically a national pastime.

In recent years, the NCAA women’s tournament has become increasingly popular, too. That’s partially due to increased depth in the sport, as well as cultural icons like Caitlin Clark.

For those interested in the handicapping side of things, the BetMGM online sportsbook offers women’s futures odds in addition to men’s college basketball national championship odds

Just head to the American basketball page and check the side tab that reads College – Women.

Women’s NCAA Tournament Prediction: Who Will Win the Women’s Tournament In 2025?

Based on the current futures market, the UConn Huskies have an implied 26.7% chance to win the 2025 women’s basketball national championship.

Women’s College Basketball National Championship: Odds & Analysis

At the beginning of February, defending national champion South Carolina was tagged as the clear favorite in the women’s college basketball championship market.

But the NCAAW market took a big shift on Feb. 16 when No. 7 UConn played No. 4 South Carolina. The Huskies didn’t just win, either – they dominated the Gamecocks, ending their four-year home winning streak courtesy of a 29-point blowout.

Among the key stats from the game: UConn shot 46% from behind the arc and outrebounded South Carolina 48-29. Huskies guard Azzi Fudd continued her hot streak with a game-high 28 points.

For South Carolina, the loss came one week after a road loss at Texas, with the Longhorns serving as another key national foil at the top of the futures market.

As a result, South Carolina’s market position has taken a hit. While the Gamecocks remain the most popular team to bet with 13.9% of tickets – the most of any women’s NCAA team at BetMGM – they’ve been adjusted up to +325 to win the championship.

UConn now leads the table at +275, owning about 11% of the ticket market as of March 3. Texas, an early-season championship target that has been significantly adjusted from its +325 opener, is now back en vogue and charging at +600.

Notre Dame (+550), UCLA (+600), and USC (+600) are also contending for top seeds and have attracted substantial ticket counts. One of these six teams will almost surely win the 2025 women’s championship.

From a strict basketball standpoint, South Carolina probably remains the most talented team. The temporary adjustment to +325 could represent the best buy-low point that will exist between now and Selection Sunday.

Indeed, several major bettors seem to have had the same buy-low thought as me – South Carolina’s championship market handle has ballooned from less than 20% to more than 34% since the UConn loss. In the days before Selection Sunday, the smart money seems to be on South Carolina.
