NFL Week 7

It’s hard to know what to make of this young New York Jets team so far. But, unfortunately, football spreads have not been kind to New York teams this season.

Of course, fans are frustrated by the poor start to the season. Yet, for Jets betting, there may be some light at the end of the tunnel.

Let’s dig into the Jets betting line for Week 7 against the Patriots.

New York Jets Issues

Head coach Robert Saleh used the extra week to work on faster starts to games. However, the numbers in the first quarter alone are ugly. The New York Jets offense is 2-12 on third-down conversions with no points scored.

Saleh suggests that his quarterback is on the same trajectory as Buffalo’s Josh Allen. Five games is a small sample size, but fans are expecting better.

Scores from the last two games show that they’re improving. However, the overtime win against Tennessee was no easy feat.

Still, Saleh is taking heat for his decision-making and his vanilla defense. Being a head coach in New York is no picnic.

The bottom line is Wilson needs to play better and hit his receivers. But, to his credit, he takes ownership for his play so far and promises to start ‘zinging it.’

On the bright side, scores have gotten tighter, but it remains to be seen if they can avenge the Week 2 loss at home to the Patriots.

Zach Wilson’s touchdown-to-interception ratio is glaring. Four touchdowns against nine interceptions just won’t cut it.

If Zach Wilson stays true to his word and starts passing as he did in college, it would help instill more confidence in bettors. So look for the offense to spread the ball around early and often, with quick passes to build Wilsons’ confidence.

Jets Betting Odds (+6.5 )

Considering they are going into Foxboro, these opening Jets odds don’t look so bad. Before the bye week, the New York Jets went into Atlanta and came close to winning that game. A quicker start would have helped the cause, of course.

Yet the week previous, the Jets beat a playoff contender, the Tennessee Titans. So despite some poor stats, picking the Jets to cover bigger spreads isn’t out of the question.

The over/under at 42.5 is intriguing as well. The New York Jets have scored 24 points or more in their last two games. The Patriots put up 29 against the Cowboys and 25 points the week before.

Jets Predictions

The New York Jets have proven that they can keep games close. If the Jets can somehow play with the same focus they did against Tennessee, they could give the Patriots a run for their money.

I think that taking the 6.5-points with the Jets could be a good place this week. Saleh has said that he’s going to work on helping the offense get off to faster starts, which will help change the course of their games. Yet the one bet I like best in this game is the over/under at 42.5. Both these teams can score, and their defenses bend just enough for me to take them to go over here.
