NFL Week 7

It’s been a trying decade for the Jets faithful. The team has only one winning record and zero playoff appearances since 2010, when they had an 11-5 season and went on to the AFC Championship Game.

It’s been a tough pill to swallow after some of the team’s success in the 2000s. The Jets’ odds of making the playoffs this year aren’t looking good either, as the team is rebuilding and looking to form a new identity.

The current NFL betting lines have them at +15000 to win the AFC East, which is probably generous. But with a new quarterback and a couple of dynamic playmakers, the promised land might not be that far off for New York.

Until then, you can still try and take advantage of some of the Jets’ betting lines. Let’s take a look at some of the Jets spreads for Week 7.

The Long Road to Recovery

It’s been a long road to recovery, and the Jets fanbase has had to endure some tough times, none more challenging than the reign of former coach Adam Gase. But thankfully, for Jets fans, the dark days of Gase are over, and there’s a new head coach in town by the name of Robert Saleh.

Saleh was highly coveted in the offseason after his success in San Francisco as a defensive mastermind. He seems to have all the ingredients to be an effective leader and turn this team around.

Does New York Have the Fire Power to Win Games?

One perk of finishing near the bottom is that you get rewarded with a high draft pick. New York used its number two overall pick on BYU superstar QB Zach Wilson.

Wilson was a dynamic playmaker in college with a cannon for an arm. While it hasn’t translated to wins so far this year, the rookie is still getting his feet wet. No two quarterbacks develop at the same rate at the NFL level, so there’s still plenty of time for Wilson to get his footing.

The Jets also signed former number five overall pick wide receiver Corey Davis. Davis finally looked like he had the potential to be a number one wideout last year and has been solid so far on the Jets. The Jets also took running back Michael Carter in the fourth round to beef up the ground attack.

New York Jets Odds: Betting Lines

New York has struggled early on this year, as they’re still trying to figure out who they are. It’s a learning process for rookie QB Wilson, and there will be plenty of growing pains along the way.

They have shown flashes of competence, but the team will need a few solid performances before they’re considered competitive. Sadly, for sports betting Jets fans, your best move right now is to bet against them. The Jets are just 1-4 against the spread this year, and there’s a good chance that falls to 1-5 this week.

  • Total points 42.5, Over -110
  • New England Patriots -6.5, -115
  • New England Patriots by 7-12, +325

The Patriots have owned the Jets historically, including a current 11 game win streak. However, the teams have already played once this year, with the Pats defeating New York 25-6 in Week 2.

While I believe this week will be more competitive, I think the Patriots are still a little further along in the rebuilding process than the Jets.

There’s Hope in New York

There’s no need to hang your head in New York. The Jets are moving in the right direction, and I think the Jets’ odds of returning to a playoff team in the next few years are pretty good.

It will all depend on if Zach Wilson takes to the NFL and can show the same prowess he did in college. Until then, there are plenty of good betting lines to enjoy, regardless of New York’s record.
