At the beginning of the season, many analysts predicted the NFC West to be the most competitive division in football, and who could argue with them? The division features a revamped Rams team, a perennial playoff team in the Seahawks, a suffocating defense in San Francisco, and an upstart Cardinals team with an exciting young quarterback.
So far, the Rams and Cardinals have held up their end of the bargain, but Seattle and San Fran haven’t had the same luck. An injury to Russell Wilson derailed the Hawks, while the 49ers have had injury problems and a defense that hasn’t lived up to expectations. So let’s have a look at what to expect for NFL betting this week in the NFC West.
NFC West Standings
Arizona Cardinals 8-1
Los Angeles Rams 7-2
Seattle Seahawks 3-5
San Francisco 49ers 3-5
The Cardinals are currently perched atop of the division with a sterling 8-1 record. Arizona has been fantastic this season, led by a quarterback in Kyler Murray, who has come into his own in 2021. But the Cards proved they were more than just a quarterback when they demolished the 49ers in San Francisco last weekend without the services of Murray, who was sidelined with an injury.
This year, the Rams have made all the right moves, none bigger than trading for Matthew Stafford in the offseason. They put up a rare dud at home last Sunday, but we can consider that an anomaly.
With Russell Wilson, the Seahawks always have a chance to win, and they’ll look to get back into the mix this weekend with the return of their prized QB.
The 49ers have been a hard team to read this year. Two weeks ago, they looked great in a road win against the Bears but then laid an egg this week at home against the division-rival Cardinals.
NFC West Betting This Week
As mentioned, the Seahawks will have Russell Wilson back this week as Seattle heads to Green Bay to take on a team that may or may not have Aaron Rodgers as its QB. Rodgers has the potential to return to the team on Saturday if he clears Covid-19 protocols, but we’ll have to wait and see if that happens. However, I love the Seahawks at +4 this week, even if Rodgers suits up, as Wilson makes his triumphant return.
The Cardinals will hope to have Kyler Murray back this week for a soft matchup at home against the struggling Carolina Panthers. AZ is currently a -10 favorite, and I love them to cover if Murray plays.
The Rams head to San Francisco in a game that should feature the newly acquired Von Miller. After a disappointing effort on Sunday night, Miller should provide the boost that the Rams need to get back in the win column.
The Rams are a -4 favorite, and I don’t think it will be a problem for them against a struggling 49ers squad. San Francisco swept the series last season, but the Rams will reverse the trend in 2021.
Who Will Win the NFC West?
I think it’s safe to say that it’s a two-horse race in the NFC West at this point between the Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams. The Cardinals are the current favorites at -170, but the Rams have excellent value at +150. If you love a long shot, the Seahawks and 49ers are both paying out +6600.
