NFL football fans saw many exciting underdogs cover the spread last week, like backup quarterback Tyler Huntley nearly leading the Baltimore Ravens to an outright win at home against the Green Bay Packers.
The current NFL game odds have many intriguing underdog point spread options that could also be valuable wagers in Week 16.
Here are three underdog NFL ATS picks to consider for this weekend.
Broncos (+1.5) at Raiders
- Date: Sunday, Dec. 26th
- Time: 4:25 PM EST
- Venue: Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, NV
- Participants: Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders
The Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders are both 7-7, but the records don’t tell the whole story. The Raiders are 2-5 in their last seven, while the Broncos are 4-3 over the same period.
These teams played earlier this year, and in that game, the Raiders won 34-24. But these are very different teams now.
The Broncos’ defense has played well recently, allowing an average of only 15 points per game to their opponents during their last four contests. Denver ranks in the top ten for both rushing defense (10th) and passing defense (6th).
Even though they could move the ball exceptionally well early in the season, the Raiders have had trouble scoring recently. In their first three games, they averaged 30 points. They’ve only scored 40 points combined in their last three games.
Teddy Bridgewater is questionable for this contest, but I would bet on the Broncos even if backup quarterback Drew Lock starts in his absence. I like this play because I trust Denver’s defense against a Raiders offense that’s gone cold.
Ravens (+2.5) at Bengals
Date: Sunday, Dec. 26th
Time: 1:00 PM EST
Venue: Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati, OH
Participants: Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals
Tyler Huntley started for the Ravens in place of Lamar Jackson last week and covered the spread against Green Bay. That’s not an easy feat.
With Jackson not yet at full health, coach John Harbaugh said the decision to start Jackson or Huntley in this weekend’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals will depend on multiple factors. Whoever ends up starting, I like the Ravens’ chances here versus the Bengals.
The Bengals have a great run defense. They rank 5th in rush yards allowed per game, only letting opponents gain 95.9 yards on average. Their passing defense isn’t on the same level, though. Cincinnati ranks just 26th in pass yards allowed, giving up 249.8 yards.
Baltimore ranks third in rush yards per game, but they can also move the ball through the air. They have the 12th-ranked passing offense with 240.9 yards per game.
Even though Joe Burrow passed for three touchdowns in the last game these two teams played, I don’t think we’ll see a strong repeat performance. Burrow currently ranks in the league’s bottom half in QBR (17th) and has thrown six touchdowns and five interceptions across his last six games.
Bears (+7) at Seahawks
Date: Sunday, Dec. 26th
Time: 1:00 PM EST
Venue: Lumen Field in Seattle, WA
Participants: Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks
I’m not overly excited to bet on this Chicago Bears team, but I don’t have much faith in the Seattle Seahawks defense.
The Seahawks rank last in passing yards allowed and 21st in rushing yards allowed.
They might have their hands full on Sunday with Justin Fields, who has a combined 509 pass yards and 109 rush yards in his last two games.
Seattle averages 20.9 points per game. I believe the Bears, who have the 9th-ranked defense in yards allowed, will slow the Seahawks’ offense down at least enough to cover the spread in this game.
