NFL Best Bets: Money Line, Point Spread, and Over-Under in Week 8

A new week brings in another slew of great online football betting opportunities in the NFL. Last week was action-packed, featuring thrilling money line upsets, nail-biting over/under finishes, and some last-minute covers against the spread.

With some critical divisional matchups this week and plenty of playoff implications on the line, there are bound to be some pressure cookers on the horizon in Week 8. So let’s take a look at the top three NFL best bets this week for the money line, over/under, and point spread.

Point Spread: Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills (-13.5)

The first thing that jumps out at me from this game is that the Bills are the highest-scoring team in the AFC with 203 points, while the Dolphins have surrendered the most points in the AFC with 207. Josh Allen and the Bills have been lighting up the scoreboard all year.

It’s also interesting to note that since 2011, teams coming off a bye have a record of 202-165-1 against the spread. Miami has had a disappointing season, and it appears that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s days could be numbered as trade talks for Deshaun Watson have intensified over the last week. All signs point to a Bills blowout in this one.

Money line: Carolina Panthers at Atlanta Falcons (-155)

This NFC South matchup features two teams that are going in opposite directions. After starting the season like a house on fire, the Panthers had looked like they had solved their quarterback problems with Sam Darnold when they jumped out to an early 3-0 record.

Things have soured since, as Carolina has dropped four straight, including last week’s 25-3 shellacking against the Giants. The injury to Christian McCaffrey has proven to be insurmountable, and Darnold’s wildly inconsistent play has stirred up a quarterback controversy in Carolina.

On the other side, we have the surging Falcons, who seem like they’ve figured things out in recent weeks. Atlanta has won two games in a row, backed by solid quarterback play and the emergence of highly-touted rookie TE Kyle Pitts. I think the Falcons soar in this one.

Over/Under: Los Angeles Rams at Houston Texans (U 47, -110)

I think this is one of the best NFL bets this week. Sure, the heavily favored Rams have scored points this year, averaging 29.5 per game, good for fifth-best in the NFL. But this should be a lopsided affair, with the Rams spending most of the second half running out the clock after jumping out to a significant early lead.

Under quarterback Davis Mills, the Texans have scored fewer than 10 points in four out of his five starts, and he’ll be in a tough spot this week against Aaron Donald and a stout Rams defense. There have been rumors that Tyrod Taylor may return this week, but I’m still taking the under.
