The NFL has lived up to its usual high expectations this year with wild finishes, crazy upsets, and countless highlight-reel plays. There have been some blowouts and some shocking surprises that keep NFL betting interesting and exciting.
With Week 4 in the rear-view mirror, it’s already time to start looking ahead to Week 5. The games this week should not disappoint. It all gets started on Thursday night with a critical divisional matchup as the Rams head to Seattle to take on the Seahawks. So, let’s look at some of the NFL Week 5 predictions.
Rams at Seahawks (+2)
This game is shaping up to be what people thought it would be when the schedule first came out. Finally, after suffering through a slew of struggling teams on Thursday nights, we’re treated to a gem.
The Rams enter the contest at 3-1 after taking a surprising walloping by the Cardinals on Sunday. Matthew Stafford came back down to earth after lighting up the scoreboard the previous week against Tom Brady and the Bucs, and he’ll look to get back on track.
On the other end of the ball, the Seahawks are coming off a gritty road victory after knocking off a tough 49ers team in San Fran. Russell Wilson didn’t have his usual otherworldly numbers, but he was efficient and made plays when he needed to.
Both teams are 2-2 against the spread (ATS), and the Rams have hit the over in their four games. I look for the over trend to continue this week. The O/U is currently at 54.5, but I’m personally leaning towards taking the over. I believe the Seahawks will win this game at home 34-31. Pete Carroll is notorious for winning big games, especially in prime time.
Packers at Bengals (+3.5)
It’s bedlam in Bengal-town as Cincinnati is off to a red-hot start thanks to former first overall pick Joe Burrow and his LSU teammate and rookie sensation Ja’Marr Chase. The Bengals are 3-1 and will be well-rested, having not played since last Thursday night when they took down the Jags.
The Bengals pride themselves on solid defense and a heavy rushing attack led by Joe Mixon, who already has 90 touches this season (second highest among RBs).
To say the Green Bay Packers had a shaky start to the season would be an understatement. But after the 38-3 defeat they suffered against the Saints, they’ve responded with three straight wins, and Aaron Rodgers has looked like the reigning MVP that he is.
The Packers are a healthy 3-1 ATS this year, and I like them to improve on that this week. Rodgers has scored 92 points in the last three weeks, and I expect another 30+ performance this week. I believe the Packers will win this game by a touchdown, 33-26.
Bills at Chiefs (-2.5)
In what is undoubtedly the marquee matchup of the week, the Bills head to Arrowhead for a rematch of last year’s AFC Championship game. After a 1-2 start, the sky was falling last week in Kansas City, with everybody wondering what was wrong with their beloved Chiefs.
Any uncertainty around the team was quickly put to rest on Sunday when Mahomes and company dismantled the Eagles in Philadelphia. Tyreek Hill caught 11 passes for 186 yards and three TDs, while Mahomes threw for five touchdowns.
After taking it on the chin in Week 1 against the Steelers, the Bills come to town having steamrolled their previous three opponents. The Bills have scored a whopping 118 points in their last three games, and we can look forward to a high-flying affair on Sunday night.
With both teams firing on all cylinders, I think this game eclipses the 56.5 and hits the over. I believe the Bills will improve to 4-1 ATS with a revenge win of 38-35.
An Exciting Week of NFL Betting Ahead
There is no shortage of intriguing matchups this week in the NFL betting world. Other notables include the 3-1 Broncos as a +1.5 dog on the road against Pittsburgh and another critical divisional game against the Cardinals -6 at home against San Francisco.
