There are many road teams favored in Week 13. A total of eight road favorites round out this week’s NFL betting slate. So do you want to know which road teams hold the most value?
Let’s explore the NFL betting odds so we can analyze which road favorites are worth backing.
Philadelphia Eagles (-6.5) at New York Jets
The Philadelphia Eagles were only able to muster seven points to the last place Giants in Week 12. However, in their loss to the Giants, the Eagles ran for 208 yards on only 33 attempts (an average of 6.3 yards per rush), and their defense held the Giants to only 264 total yards on offense.
In Week 13, the Eagles (-6.5) are road favorites as they stay at MetLife Stadium and play the New York Jets. There are two primary reasons I like the Eagles to cover a touchdown against the Jets.
First, the Jets are giving up the 6th most rushing yards to opponents while the Eagles are the best rushing offense in the league. The Eagles average 157.9 yards per game, though over their past three games, the Eagles average 222.
Two of the most efficient ways to control a football game are to run the football and win the turnover battle, which is the second reason the Eagles will cover this Sunday. The Jets turn the ball over more than any team in football, coughing it up 24 times this season.
I believe Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia backfield will once again put up big numbers. This week, I think they’ll make it across the goal line, too.
Indianapolis Colts (-8.5) at Houston Texans
After a Week 12 loss to the Buccaneers, the Colts are looking to rebound as they travel to Houston to face the Texans. The Colts are favored by 8.5 points against the Texans this week.
The Colts and the Texans met in Week 6 when the Colts cruised to an easy 31-3 victory. In that game, Indianapolis forced three turnovers and played efficient offense as running-back Jonathon Taylor averaged over 10 yards per rush and scored two touchdowns.
The Colts present their stellar running game against the Texans’ incredibly porous rush defense, as the matchup between the Eagles and the Jets did. Jonathan Taylor leads the league in rushing yards (1,204) and rushing touchdowns (14).
The Texans are the second-worst rushing defense in the league, allowing an average of 135.6 yards per game. I don’t think the high-powered Indianapolis offense led by Taylor and QB Carson Wentz will have any trouble scoring this weekend.
Finding Favorable Matchups in This Week’s NFL Betting Odds
The Eagles and Colts are great bets as road favorites in Week 13 due to their explosive running games exploiting the weak rushing defenses they will be facing.
Do you agree? Or do you see another good road favorite in this week’s NFL betting odds?
