Looking at the NFL betting lines in Week 16, there are some road favorites that stand out as intriguing options for bettors this week.
Many of these games have playoff implications, making them even more exciting.
What are the best road favorites to pick among these NFL betting odds? Here are three that I like.
San Francisco (-3.5) at Tennessee
- Date- Thursday, Dec. 23rd
- Time- 8:20 P.M. EST on NFL Network
- Venue- Nissan Stadium
These two teams have gone in different directions over the course of the last few weeks. The San Francisco 49ers have won five of their previous six games, while the Tennessee Titans have lost three of their previous four games.
Injuries are a genuine concern for the Titans. They do not have running back Derrick Henry, and wide receivers Julio Jones and A.J. Brown may not be available for Thursday’s game.
If they cannot go, that could mean QB Ryan Tannehill faces a lot more pressure from a 49ers’ defense that ranks tenth in the NFL in sacks with 36 on the season. If the Titans struggle to pass the ball, they may not be able to lean on their running game to help, as the 49ers have only allowed an average of 98 rushing yards in their last three games.
I like San Francisco to win and cover this game.
Tampa Bay (-10.5) at Carolina
- Date- Sunday, Dec. 26th
- Time- 1 P.M. EST on FOX
- Venue- Bank of America Stadium
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may be coming off of a game where they got shut out, but I’m here to make the argument that Brady’s Bucs will bounce back against the Carolina Panthers.
The Panthers have lost their last four games, giving up an average of 30 points in the process.
For this matchup, Tampa Bay has a significant advantage when it comes to protecting the football. The Bucs own a +7 turnover margin on the season, while Carolina is in the bottom five in the NFL at -8. The Panthers have had seven turnovers in their last four games.
Tampa also has the third-best rushing defense in the NFL, allowing just 89 rushing yards per game. Carolina has the fourth-fewest passing yards in the league (195.4), so I don’t see them scoring many points if they can’t run the ball.
I believe that Tampa Bay will shut down Carolina’s rushing attack, making them an excellent pick to cover this week.
Los Angeles Chargers (-9.5) at Houston
- Date- Sunday, Dec. 26th
- Time- 1 P.M. on CBS
- Venue- NRG Stadium
I think that the Los Angeles Chargers match up pretty well against the Houston Texans.
One noticeable mismatch is between the Texans’ passing offense and the Chargers’ passing defense. Houston has the second-lowest passing yards per game in the NFL (188), while Los Angeles’ passing defense ranks in the top ten in passing yards allowed per game (221.8). Houston also gains the fewest rushing yards per game (77.4).
I do not see the Texans’ offense keeping up with the Chargers. They average the second-lowest points per game (14.8), while the Chargers practically double them with 27.1 points per game.
I believe that the Chargers will easily cover in this game.
