After eight weeks in the NFL, there have been plenty of surprises, some of which can be found among NFL divisional races. Eight teams will claim their spot in the playoffs after clinching their division.

Green Bay Packers and Arizona Cardinals

Two teams are 7-1 so far this year: the Green Bay Packers and the Arizona Cardinals. Each team leads their division, while the Cardinals are tied with the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC West.

The Packers are atop the NFC North and four games ahead of the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears.

Since the Packers beat the Cardinals last week (giving Arizona their first loss of the season), they are the top seed in the NFC. Thus, the Packers are a lock to win their division, barring a miracle or severe injury.

The Cardinals, however, are -120 to win their division. The Rams are ranked at even to win the NFC West. These two teams meet again in Week 14.

Tennessee Titans: Can They Hold Their #1 Spot in the AFC?

The Tennessee Titans have the top spot in the AFC with a record of 6-2. They defeated a divisional opponent, the Indianapolis Colts, in overtime last week, 34-31.

Titans running back Derrick Henry suffered a foot injury in that game. He had surgery two days later, and a timeline for his return has not been given.

Still, the Titans are three games ahead of the Colts in the AFC South. They’ll be playing the Rams this week.

NFL Divisional Playoffs: Three Teams in the AFC Are 5-2

NFL divisional races include three teams in the AFC that are 5-2 heading into Week 9. Those teams are the Las Vegas Raiders, Baltimore Ravens, and the Buffalo Bills.

The Raiders are a game ahead in the AFC West, one of the toughest divisions in the NFL. They still need to play the Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos one more time. They’ve yet to play the Kansas City Chiefs yet.

The Chargers (4-3) are favored to win the AFC West, and the Chiefs (4-4) aren’t too far behind them.

The Ravens are ahead in the AFC North, another tough division. Recently, they lost to a divisional opponent, the Cincinnati Bengals (5-3), who were previously the top seed in the AFC.

Even though they’ve only played one divisional game, the Ravens are strong favorites to win the AFC North.

That brings us to the Bills, a team that is currently favored to win the Super Bowl.

Even though they’ve yet to play the New England Patriots (4-4), the Bills are a lock to win the AFC East. They’ll be playing the Jacksonville Jaguars this week (and the Jets next week).

Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Although they lost a big divisional game last week, the Bucs (6-2) still sit atop the NFC South. They’re also the second-favorite to win the Super Bowl this year.

I believe that the Bucs will cruise to a division championship after the injury to Jameis Winston.

As for the Dallas Cowboys (6-1), they remain in first place in one of the weakest divisions in the NFL, the NFC East.

Although they have some challenging games coming up, the Cowboys are the surest bet of any team in the NFL divisional races to win their division.

Which NFL Divisional Leaders Should Win in Week 9?

Among the eight teams that currently lead their divisions, only four are favored to win in Week 9 (not including the Bucs, who have a bye). Those teams are the Cowboys, Raiders, Bills, and Ravens.

The Packers trail the Chiefs, only slightly, for the money line, while the Cardinals are a pick ’em against the San Francisco 49ers this week. The Titans are a heavy underdog against the Los Angeles Rams.

So, this week could shake up the NFL divisional races quite a bit.
