With Week 2 of the NFL season in the books, sports bettors are starting to get a feel for which teams can cover and which teams are worth fading. Will those assumptions hold up in Week 3?
Specifically, I want to look at the 0-2 teams who desperately need a win; the Giants and the Falcons. I’m also intrigued by a Bears team that’s making football betting difficult with their fluid quarterback situation. Read on to learn more about the NFL betting lines to watch in Week 3.
NFC Lines for Week 3
- Carolina Panthers (-8) at Houston Texans
- Washington Football Team at Buffalo (-8)
- Baltimore Ravens (-7.5) at Detroit Lions
- New Orleans Saints at New England Patriots (-3)
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-2.5) at Los Angeles Rams
- Seattle Seahawks (-2) at Minnesota Vikings
- Green Bay Packers at San Francisco 49ers (-3.5)
- Arizona Cardinals (-7.5) at Jacksonville Jaguars
- Philadelphia at Dallas (-4)
Chicago Bears at Cleveland Browns (-7)
The Browns are favored by 7 points against the Chicago Bears. In Week 2, the Browns beat the Houston Texans by 10 points, failing to cover the 13.5 point spread. The Bears, meanwhile, got a big win against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The big mystery in this game is whether Andy Dalton will recover from the knee injury he suffered in Week 2 in time to start against Cleveland. The Bears have yet to rule him out, but it seems unlikely that he’ll play.
Justin Fields was solid while filling in for Dalton in Week 2. When you’re trying to decide which side to bet in this game, you’ll have to decide if Fields can play effective mistake-free football for a full 60 minutes.
The Bears’ defense looked good against the Bengals, while the Browns’ defense had some difficulty with a rebuilding Texans team. This game should be on your radar when you’re looking for some of the best NFL bets for Week 3.
Atlanta Falcons at New York Giants (-3)
The 0-2 Atlanta Falcons travel to Met Life Stadium to take on the New York Giants in Week 3. The visiting Falcons are three-point underdogs. Atlanta hasn’t had much success in 2021, losing their first two games by a combined 47 points.
New York is also 0-2, but they’re one offsides penalty away from possibly being 1-1. The Giants lost to a good Broncos team and barely lost to the Washington Football Team.
New York’s star running back, Saquon Barkley, has yet to make an impact this year. NFL sports betting fans would love to see Barkley get it going in Week 3.
The Falcons haven’t come close to covering a three-point spread this year, but they’ve played a decent Philadelphia team and the defending Super Bowl Champions Tampa Bay. Still, it doesn’t seem as though the Falcons have the defense to contain the Giants this week.
If Daniel Jones can put up 29 points against a formidable Washington defense, he should carve up the Falcons’ defense. The Giants are an intriguing team for people who are interested in online NFL betting.
