Week 8 NFL

Week 8 presents some exciting football spreads, but it’s the money lines and point totals that are catching my eye. There may be some opportunities for NFL bettors to use parlays to their advantage this week.

In the article below, I’ll identify three of the top parlays for Week 8. Then, read to learn about the best NFL bets to make on Sunday.

Parlay the Heavy Favorites for a -196 Payout

  • Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills (-800)
  • Cincinnati Bengals (-450) at New York Jets
  • Los Angeles Rams (-1000) at Houston Texans

This week, the pro football spreads include three games in which one team is favored by 10 points or more. That’s too big of a spread to bet with any confidence, but the money line odds present a different story.

I don’t see any way the Rams, Bengals, or Bills lose to these vastly inferior opponents. The payout may not provide plus odds, but it does provide decent odds considering the double-digit spreads in each of these games.

Parlay the Short Home Underdogs for a +405 Payout

  • Philadelphia Eagles at Detroit Lions (+135)
  • Dallas Cowboys at Minnesota Vikings (+115)

Sometimes, it’s best to ignore the pro football point spreads in tight matchups. The Philadelphia Eagles are just 2-5 on the season, and rumors are swirling that Jalen Hurts may be benched in favor of Gardner Minshew. So now is not the time to bet on the Eagles as road favorites.

Don’t let Detroit’s 0-7 record fool you; the Lions were up late against the Ravens and Vikings and had a chance to take the lead late in the fourth against Los Angeles until Jared Goff threw a pick in the red zone.

In the second game of the parlay, the Vikings and Cowboys square off, with both teams coming off a bye. Dak Prescott was injured on the game’s final play in Week 6, but he claims he’ll be fine for Week 8.

If Prescott is even slightly off, it could spell trouble for a Cowboys team that relies on him to perform exceptionally every week.

On the other side of the ball, Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is playing inspired football. Cousins plays especially well at US Bank Stadium, where he’s thrown 51 TDs and 17 interceptions in 26 games. Minnesota is 28-15 at home since US Bank Stadium opened in 2016, and I like them to pull out the win here on Sunday Night Football.

Parlay the Unders in Ugly Matchups for a +272 Payout

  • Jacksonville Jaguars at Seattle Seahawks (U 43.5)
  • San Francisco 49ers at Chicago Bears (U 39.5)

If you don’t want to pick the NFL football spreads this week, you may want to try betting on the point totals in a couple of presumably low-scoring games. In the Jaguars vs. Seahawks, I’m betting against Geno Smith and the Seattle offense.

This year, the Jaguars haven’t done much, but Seattle has struggled with Smith as their quarterback. The Seahawks are averaging 15 points per game with Smith at the helm.

I’m betting that the rookie quarterbacks fail to move the ball much on offense in the other leg of this parlay. Even if Jimmy Garoppolo does play for San Francisco, I don’t feel he’s capable of putting up big numbers on offense against the Bears’ defense.
