The NFL Conference Championships are this Sunday. The winners of the NFC and AFC Championship games will earn a spot in the Super Bowl.
BetMGM has the latest NFL odds for these games, but you will need to keep your eye on NFL injuries.
What are the biggest names on the NFL injury report? Here are some players that you should watch this week.
WR Deebo Samuel
One of the most important players to watch this week is the status of Deebo Samuel for the San Francisco 49ers. Samuel was dealing with a knee injury and was limping at some points during last week’s game.
However, according to Charean Williams of NBC Sports, Samuel practiced Wednesday and is expected to start this week.
Samuel is a big dual-threat for San Francisco, and it’s essential that he is on the field for Sunday’s game. He has had six touchdown receptions and eight rushing touchdowns during the season. Even though it looks like he will play, bettors should check the injury report for any setbacks throughout the week. I’m also concerned that Samuel could experience stiffness or knee pain during the game, which could slow him down and impact his ability to plant his feet to cut inside on routes.
S Tyrann Mathieu
Tyrann Mathieu, safety for the Kansas City Chiefs, is currently listed as questionable after suffering a concussion during last week’s win. He is now in concussion protocol and was the only player who didn’t practice on Wednesday, according to Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com.
Having Mathieu back on the field for the Chiefs would undoubtedly be an asset considering that he has three interceptions this season (including one returned for a touchdown) plus three recovered fumbles and a sack.
OT Andrew Whitworth
One of the oldest active players in the NFL, Andrew Whitworth, is currently dealing with a knee injury.
Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports that Whitworth should practice as usual this week and play in Sunday’s game. He is one of the team’s captains in his fifth season with the Los Angeles Rams, even recovering a fumble this season. This is still an important injury to watch, however.
DE Cam Sample
Cincinnati Bengals‘ defensive end Cam Sample is currently listed as questionable for next week’s game against the Chiefs due to a groin injury. If the rookie cannot go, then the Bengals will be missing someone who has had 1.5 sacks, 14 combined tackles, and five QB hits.
OT Trent Williams
Another player to watch on the 49ers is OT Trent Williams. According to David Lombardi of The Athletic, he suffered an ankle sprain during last week’s win.
He is currently listed as questionable for next week’s game. In all but two games this season, Williams was on the field for 95% of the snaps or more.
