The NFL playoff race is heating up, and the added 17th game allows more teams to remain in the race than before. In the NFC, the 5-5 Panthers hold the 7th and final playoff spot. The final playoff spot in the AFC currently belongs to the 5-4 Los Angeles Chargers.

According to the NFL betting lines from BetMGM, the following three playoff contenders are underdogs in Week 11.

  • Indianapolis Colts (+7) at Buffalo Bills
  • New Orleans Saints (+1.5) at Philadelphia Eagles
  • Pittsburgh Steelers (+4.5) at Los Angeles Chargers

In the article below, I’ll look at these matchups and discuss how to bet the pro football underdog lines. Read on to find out how to think about underdog betting in NFL Week 11.

Indianapolis Colts (+7) at Buffalo Bills

The last time the Buffalo Bills squared off against the NFL’s leading rusher, they gave up 143 rushing yards to Derrick Henry. In Week 11, the Bills have to take on the NFL’s new rushing leader, the Colts’ Jonathan Taylor.

Buffalo has just one win this year against a team with a winning percentage of .500 or above. The Bills have performed well this season when they’ve played lesser opponents like the Jaguars, Dolphins, and Texans, but the 5-5 Colts present a more difficult challenge. Indianapolis ranks eighth in the NFL in points per game and 12th in yards per game.

New Orleans Saints (+1.5) at Philadelphia Eagles

Sean Payton and the Saints have lost two straight games since Jameis Winston tore his ACL. However, New Orleans is just one game back of the lead in the NFC South because the division-leading Buccanneers have also lost two in a row. New Orleans now heads to Philadelphia to take on an Eagles team that just dismantled the Broncos in Denver.

New Orleans had to play without stud running back Alvin Kamara last week. However, he could have a big game if he’s able to suit up on Sunday, as Philadelphia’s run defense ranks just 20th in the NFL in rushing yards allowed per game.

Pittsburgh Steelers (+4.5) at Los Angeles Chargers

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a couple of injuries to monitor this week as they seek to make up ground on the Ravens for the lead in the AFC North. Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick is in the COVID-19 protocol, and star linebacker T.J. Watt is dealing with a knee injury.

However, neither of those defensive injuries will affect the Steelers’ ability to run the ball, and that’s something the Chargers struggle to defend. Los Angeles is giving up 155 rushing yards per game this year, dead last in the NFL. Look for a returning Big Ben to make the Steelers one of this week’s best underdog bets.

Looking at the Pro Football Underdog Lines for Week 11

There’s good reason to consider betting the pro football underdog lines this week. Each underdog mentioned above can run the ball. If the Colts, Saints, and Steelers can keep the ball on the ground and dictate the game’s pace, they should be able to cover or win outright in Week 11.
