Going into Week 10, NFL underdogs on the road were an incredible 51-31-1 against the spread in 2021. In Week 10, five more road underdogs covered ATS.
The NFL Week 11 schedule features three intriguing matchups in which the NFL underdog betting lines might present some value. Here are the three games I will be looking at this week, with the NFL betting lines provided by BetMGM.
- Texans (+10.5) at Tennessee Titans
- Detroit Lions (+10) at Cleveland Browns
- Pittsburgh Steelers (+4.5) at Los Angeles Chargers
The Texans and Lions should be able to cover the double-digit point spreads in Week 11, and Pittsburgh has a chance to pull off an upset against a Chargers defense that has allowed 24 or more points in five straight games. Continue reading to learn more about these Week 11 underdogs.
Texans (+10.5) at Tennessee Titans
The Titans have now failed to top 100 yards rushing in two straight games since losing Derrick Henry to a foot injury. If Tennesee can’t run the ball effectively, it will be hard to protect a big lead should they go out in front early against the Texans.
Houston is coming off a bye week, and they’ll be hoping for a better performance from Tyrod Taylor. Taylor returned from a hamstring injury in Week 9 but threw three interceptions against the Dolphins.
Taylor looked rusty but should benefit from more practice leading up to the Week 11 matchup against Tennessee. Taylor was impressive before his hamstring injury, throwing for three touchdowns and no interceptions in two games to start the season.
Detroit Lions (+10) at Cleveland Browns
The Detroit Lions finally gave D’Andre Swift all the carries he could handle against Pittsburgh, and he rewarded their trust with 130 rushing yards. The Browns have mostly held up against the run this season. However, they gave up 184 rushing yards to New England. The Lions would be wise to lean on the run against the Browns to protect Jared Goff.
The Lions quarterback was sacked four times against Pittsburgh and must avoid taking hits from Browns superstar Myles Garrett. However, given that the spread is 10 points, all the Lions have to do in this game is keep it close early on. That way, they’ll be able to run the ball throughout the game and avoid the Steelers pass rush.
Pittsburgh Steelers (+4.5) at Los Angeles Chargers
The Steelers failed to beat the Lions on Sunday, but they were also playing without Ben Roethlisberger and their best downfield threat, Chase Claypool. Roethlisberger should be back this week if he clears COVID-19 protocols, and Claypool also has a chance to return from the injury he suffered in Week 9 against the Bears.
The Chargers, meanwhile, are struggling on defense. Los Angeles has the worst run defense in the NFL and will have to deal with one of the best young backs in the NFL in Najee Harris.
The Chargers have fared better against the pass but just gave up 143 yards to Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson. With a well-rested Big Ben returning to action on Sunday, I like the Steelers to cover on the road.
