Week 8 NFL

Home-field advantage doesn’t seem to be that big of a deal this season in the NFL. Only four teams have a losing record against the spread as road favorites. That’s why it’s worth taking a look at two intriguing NFL underdog betting lines for Week 8.

I’ll be taking a look at the following NFL betting lines this week:

  • San Francisco 49ers at Chicago Bears (+3.5)
  • Philadelphia Eagles at Detroit Lions (+3)

With both the Bears and Lions coming home after tough losses on the road, I think each team has a chance to win outright on Sunday. Read on to find out why these home underdogs might be able to pull off an upset in Week 8.

San Francisco 49ers at Chicago Bears (+3.5)

The Chicago Bears are first on my list of NFL underdogs to watch this week. Chicago is 0-1 against the spread as a home underdog this season. Chicago couldn’t cover at home against the Packers in Week 6 but can try again against a 49ers team that hasn’t found its footing in 2021.

The Bears are coming off a blowout loss to Tampa Bay, and I think that’s causing the NFL odds to shift too far towards the 49ers in this matchup. However, nobody has managed to stop Tom Brady this season, and the Bears’ defense should have a bounce-back game no matter who starts for the 49ers on Sunday.

San Francisco has lost four in a row, and it doesn’t seem as though either Jimmy Garoppolo or Trey Lance will help this team win. I predict this will be a low-scoring affair that will come down to a field goal at the end, which bodes well for Bears +3.5 bettors.

Philadelphia Eagles at Detroit Lions (+3)

The Detroit Lions have been home underdogs three times this season and have covered in two games. Dan Campbell’s team is scrappy and competitive, as evidenced by their performance against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 7.

Detroit had a lead in the fourth quarter, but a couple of untimely Jared Goff interceptions derailed the team’s hopes for an upset. Still, Detroit did cover the 15.5-point spread relatively easily.

The Lions are still searching for their first win of 2021, and it could come against the Eagles on Sunday at Ford Field. Goff should be able to get on track against an Eagles defense that just allowed Derek Carr to complete 31 of 34 attempts for 323 yards.

The Eagles only lost by ten on Sunday but scored 15 points in the fourth quarter when the game was decided.

Reviewing the NFL Underdog Betting Lines for Week 8

The NFL underdog betting lines aren’t giving a lot of respect to two NFC North teams this week, but I think both have a chance to win. Detroit is a far more competitive team than its 0-7 record indicates, as evidenced by their 4-3 record against the spread so far in 2021.

Chicago, meanwhile, is hosting a team that can’t figure out its quarterback situation. So do you think the Bears and Lions can cover the spread or pull off the upset the week?
