Seven of the NFL Week 11 matchups feature the home team as the underdog. I’ll be taking a look at three of these matchups from an NFL betting angle.
- Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings (+2.5)
- Arizona Cardinals at Seattle Seahawks (+2.5)
- Baltimore Ravens at Chicago Bears (+6.5)
Two of these matchups are critical divisional games. The Vikings will be in must-win mode for the rest of the season, and the Seahawks could be getting Chris Carson back on the field.
In the other matchup, the Chicago Bears could be turning a corner with their rookie quarterback, Justin Fields. Read on for a more in-depth analysis of NFL underdog odds for Week 11.
Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings (+2.5)
Despite being three-point underdogs in their matchup against the Chargers last week, the Vikings won outright. The offense put up 27 points, but the defense was the real story in the Vikings’ surprising win. Minnesota played without linebacker Anthony Barr, as well. Barr has been dealing with a knee injury, but the week of rest could allow him to return to face the rival Packers.
On the other side of the field, Green Bay is coming off a win against Seattle in which the Packers’ defense shined. However, that defense will face a stiff test going up against a Vikings offense ranked seventh in the NFL in yards per game.
The Packers will also be without star running back Aaron Jones in Week 11. Jones suffered an MCL sprain against the Seahawks and will miss a week or two.
Jones has been a vital part of the Packers’ offense this year. He’s gained 839 yards from scrimmage and scored seven touchdowns. I like the Vikings as one of the best underdog bets of the week, given that Green Bay just lost an essential part of their offense.
Arizona Cardinals at Seattle Seahawks (+2.5)
While Seattle is coming off an embarrassing 17-0 loss to Green Bay, the final score doesn’t tell the whole story of this game. The score was 3-0 going into the fourth quarter, and Seattle’s defense didn’t allow Rodgers to throw a touchdown all game.
The Seahawks did move the ball downfield throughout the game, but Russell Wilson threw two red-zone interceptions in the second quarter to end Seattle drives. If Wilson can shake off the rust and the Seattle defense can continue its stellar play, Seattle has an excellent chance to upset Arizona at home.
Baltimore Ravens at Chicago Bears (+6)
The Bears have lost four games in a row, but they’re coming off a game in which Justin Fields had his best performance as a pro. Fields threw for 291 yards and added another 45 yards rushing.
Against San Francisco the week before, Fields rushed for over 100 yards while completing 70% of his passes. If Fields can continue to ascend, he will give the Bears a chance in many games down the stretch.
The Ravens, meanwhile, are coming off a horrible loss in which the offense went just 2-14 on third down. That happened because the Dolphins repeatedly showed the Ravens a Cover 0 defense that Baltimore could not figure out. As a result, the Ravens must be concerned that upcoming opponents will use the same approach to stymie the Baltimore offense.
