Chicago will try for a second straight win as dogs in Bears vs Rams on Sunday night.
In addition to the pregame spread and total, bettors can now find NFL odds for player props at the BetMGM online sportsbook.
Below, I’ve outlined a pair of player prop predictions for the matchup. Odds are reflective at time of writing and are subject to movement.
Bears vs Rams Prediction: Divisional Player Props
Blake Corum Over 9.5 Rushing Attempts (-145)
After relatively low usage early in the season, Corum has started to receive more opportunities.
Corum cleared this line in five of his previous six games. The lone failure came at Atlanta, where the Rams fell behind 21-0 and were playing catch-up.
The Michigan product also performed well on a larger sample. Dating back to Week 7, Corum recorded an 8-4 record to the over against this line.
Now, he faces a putrid Bears run defense. On average, Chicago allows 26.7 rushing attempts per game and ranks 28th in rush defense DVOA.
Last week, Chicago surrendered 21 attempts to Packers running backs. In games against Detroit and San Francisco, Chicago allowed 27 attempts in both games.
Plus, Corum likely benefits from the likely return of guard Kevin Dotson on Sunday. Per PFF, Dotson finished the season as LA’s top run-blocking offensive lineman.
Add in the possibility of inclement weather, and I predict Corum clears this line for a third straight game.
Harrison Mevis Under 1.5 Field Goals Made (-115)
Snow and wind are projected for Sunday’s game in Chicago. That, in my estimation, places Mevis into a strong sell-high spot.
Mevis has cleared this line in two straight games. He benefited from lessened weather conditions in Charlotte and kicked indoors in Week 18.
Before those successes, Mevis stayed under this benchmark in five of his previous eight games. Also, his lone field-goal miss this season came outdoors in Seattle.
Ultimately, though, my prediction stems from the glaring mismatch in LA’s favor.
Chicago’s defense generally doesn’t allow field-goal tries, as they either allow a touchdown or force a turnover.
Only six kickers have cleared this benchmark in 18 Bears games this season. Dating back to Week 11, only two opposing kickers have cleared this line against Chicago.
All of that has come without facing the Rams, the league’s best offense by a mile. When Chicago faced the 49ers – the closest comparison – they surrendered zero field goals.
Pair that data with the weather, and I predict Mevis ends a two-game streak against this line.
