Only six games into Aaron Glenn’s Jets tenure, the end looks like it could be near.
After a Week 6 defeat to the Broncos, the Jets sit at 0-6 on the year. That comes despite three losses by six total points and four losses by a single score.
Now, pressure is mounting on Glenn as a one-and-done head coach. If the Jets elect to fire Glenn, who could take over as head coach?

Brian Flores: Defensive Coordinator, Minnesota Vikings
In a world where Flores earns another coaching opportunity, I like the fit with New York.
Amongst the current NFL defensive coordinators, Flores has to rank near the top in prowess. Last year, he took the Vikings defense up to second in defensive DVOA, per ftnfantasy.com.
In fact, Flores has consistently coordinated a strong defense since he arrived in Minnesota. That second-place DVOA rank improved from 11th in 2023.
Through five games this season, the Vikings also sit 11th in that metric.
Flores’ defensive knowledge could vault the Jets defense. This team finished third in DVOA as recently as 2023.
Joe Brady: Offensive Coordinator, Buffalo Bills
Hiring defensive coaches hasn’t exactly worked out for the Jets. Brady presents a different alternative from within the division.
Since Brady has taken over as Buffalo’s offensive coordinator, the results have radically improved.
As it stands, the Bills are on pace to rank fifth or better in offensive DVOA for the third straight season.
Most of that can be attributed to having Josh Allen at quarterback. But presumably, Brady would be able to work with a rookie quarterback who better fits his scheme.
Accordingly, he offers decent viability should the Jets move on from Glenn.
Mike McCarthy: Free Agent
If an upstart coordinator isn’t the answer, McCarthy could prove a candidate after a year off.
Before a disastrous 2024 campaign, McCarthy helped lead good Cowboys offenses. From 2021-23, Dallas never finished worse than fourth in offensive points per game.
That took a dip to 21st in 2024. However, Dak Prescott missed a chunk of the season.
Compared to previous Jets head coaches, McCarthy instantly provides a solid floor.
In his coaching career, McCarthy won at least 10 games in 11 seasons. Only three times did McCarthy finish with six or fewer wins.
