The 49ers promoted Klay Kubiak to offensive coordinator in 2025.
This year marks a personnel switch for the 49ers at OC. Since hiring Kyle Shanahan as HC, he has mostly called offensive plays.
But San Francisco elected to place Kubiak into OC. It’s the first time since 2021 that the 49ers employ a coach in that role.
Kubiak enters his fifth year with the 49ers in 2025. In the last four years, he worked three roles:
- Def. Quality Control (2021)
- Asst. QB’s Coach (2022-23)
- Pass Game Specialist (2024)
Last year, he led the 49ers to third in pass yards per game. The team also ranked third in yards per completion.
Kubiak leaped to the NFL after coaching high school. For seven years, he worked at Strake Jesuit College Prep.
From 2013-17, Kubiak worked as the school’s OC. From 2018-20, he served as the school’s head coach.
