AJ Brown trade rumors reignited at the 2026 NFL combine.Â
The mercurial wide receiver for Philadelphia could see a move this offseason. But any transaction involves an uphill climb for both parties.Â
Leading the rumor mill is the Buffalo Bills, which lacks depth in the wide receiver room.Â
However, the Bills would need to make a number of moves to absorb Brown’s $22.3 million cap number in 2026.Â
As of Feb. 25, Buffalo finds itself $3.8 million over the cap. If the team restructures four contracts – Josh Allen, Dion Dawkins, Ed Oliver and Dawson Knox – they save $39.7 million.Â
If not Buffalo, a couple other AFC teams could acquire Brown more easily.Â
AJ Brown Trade: Patriots & Chargers Could Acquire WR
Wide receiver-needy teams like the Patriots and Chargers could acquire Brown more easily.Â
The Chargers currently possess just under $82 million in cap room. Keenan Allen is a free agent as well, so Brown could prove a worthwhile option for a team with money to spend.Â
A move would allow Ladd McConkey to move from outside receiver to the slot, where he thrived in his rookie season.Â
For New England, a Brown trade would reunite the wide receiver with Mike Vrabel. The pair worked together in Tennessee before Brown departed for Philadelphia.Â
As of Feb. 25, New England has $42.6 million in cap room. Designating Stefon Diggs as a post-June 1 cut saves the team $20.8 million in cap room with only $5.7 million in dead money.Â
Christian Barmore ($11.5 million in savings, $5.6 million in dead money) could prove another cut option with minimal dead money.
Cutting those players could signal the Patriots’ interest in acquiring them. New England simultaneously owns a lot of draft capital in 2026 that could go to Philadelphia in return.Â
A.J. Brown Contract: Trade Details for Philadelphia
If the Eagles move on from Brown, it will come at a great cost to the team financially.Â
Moving Brown offers almost no benefit to the Eagles, aside from team culture.Â
A pre-June 1 trade would cost Philadelphia just over $20 million next season and lead to $43.4 million in dead money.Â
Trading Brown after June 1 isn’t as bad for the Eagles, but it still offers little benefit. The Eagles save $7 million in cap space under that scenario with $16.3 million in dead money.Â
For a team with only $18 million in room this season and minimal restructure options, a trade makes minimal sense on paper.Â
