Based on Cincinnati’s clean game against the Packers and Mike Tomlin’s struggles as a big favorite, my Bengals vs Steelers prediction is the Bengals Spread (+5.5).
Cincinnati impressed me in defeat on Sunday against Green Bay. Flacco, as expected, provided stability over Jake Browning for the offense.
After turning the ball over 11 times between Weeks 2-4, Cincinnati avoided an offensive turnover against Green Bay.
That is no small feat against a strong defense coming off a bye. Now, the Bengals get a fraudulent Steelers defense off a big win.
Pittsburgh ranks 20th in defensive success rate this season. The team drops to 25th in dropback success rate, according to rbsdm.com.
It gets worse on plays excluding turnovers. Here’s a breakdown of Pittsburgh’s defensive ranks on plays excluding turnovers:
