Buccaneers vs Vikings Odds: Spread, Moneyline & Total
Vikings vs Buccaneers Prediction
Based on Minnesota’s fraudulent 2-0 start and a presumption that Tampa Bay will run the ball successfully, my Buccaneers vs Vikings prediction is the Buccaneers Moneyline (+105).
The more I study Minnesota, the less impressed I emerge.
Bettors have now seen the Vikings supposedly amazing offense play two gettable defenses. Albeit with one coming in bad weather conditions, the unit has yet to impress.
Minnesota, behind two Carson Wentz starts, ranks 26th in offensive DVOA, per FTN Fantasy. If there’s a silver lining, it’s that Kevin O’Connell’s offense sits 12th against the run.
Here’s the issue: Tampa Bay’s defense performed better against the run. Todd Bowles’ unit ranks 25th in pass defense DVOA vs 14th in rush defense.
Even with Kyler Murray returning from a concussion, I question if he offers trust as a road favorite to exploit Tampa Bay’s secondary.
Additionally, it’s important to study how Minnesota achieved a 2-0 start.
In Week 1, the Vikings trailed 22-10 with five minutes left in the third quarter. At home, Minnesota scored 29 unanswered against a vulnerable Packers defense.
Week 2’s victory in Chicago came entirely through turnover luck. Minnesota blocked a short, game-tying field goal attempt and recovered a fumble at their own one-yard line.
Those are simply unsustainable ways of future success. Additionally, Tampa Bay’s offense is – in my estimation – better than advertised.
On plays excluding turnovers, the Bucs rank 13th in offensive success rate, including ninth on the ground.
Chicago showed in Week 2 that Minnesota can give up rushing yards. As a team, the Bears rushed for 134 yards.
If the Bucs continue the rushing success, it leaves them less vulnerable to Brian Flores’ heavy blitz schemes.
Accordingly, I predict Tampa Bay avoids an 0-3 start and wins as a home dog.
