Greg Roman enters his second year as Chargers’ offensive coordinator

The 53-year-old owns a lot of NFL experience. Since 1995, Roman has worked for six teams:

  • Panthers
  • Texans
  • Ravens
  • Bills
  • 49ers
  • Chargers

He began in Carolina and worked from 1995-2001. There, Roman mainly worked in quality control.

He moved to Houston in 2002 for four years. He worked as TE’s coach for the first two and QB’s coach for the final two.

Upon leaving, Roman began his first spell with the Ravens. For two years, Roman worked as an asst. O-line coach.

Three years in high school and college football came next. In 2011, Roman joined the 49ers as OC.

Four years later, Roman left for Buffalo. There, he worked two years as OC.

Roman returned to Baltimore in 2017 as TE’s coach. In 2018, he also worked as asst. HC.

Baltimore promoted Roman to OC in 2019. He worked that role for four years.

In his first year (2019), Baltimore led the league in points.

A steady struggle followed. The Ravens fell to seventh in 2020 and ranked 17th and 19th in Roman’s last two years.

Last year, Roman lifted the Chargers from 21st to 11th in points per game.
