Chiefs vs. Commanders: NFL Week 8 Odds, Prediction

See the latest NFL Week 8 odds, picks and predictions for Chiefs vs. Commanders on October 27 at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
  • The Chiefs are a 12.5-point home favorite against the Commanders.
  • The Chiefs have won each of their last 13 home games following a win.
  • My Chiefs vs Commanders prediction is the Commanders Team Total Under 18.5 Points (-125).

Week 8โ€™s Monday Night Football matchup pits the Chiefs against the Commanders.ย

Kansas City blew out the Raiders 31-0 in Week 7, improving to 4-3 on the year. Still, Kansas City trails the Broncos for the AFC West lead.ย

Washington fell to 3-4 on the season with a 44-22 loss against the Cowboys. Even more problematic is that quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a hamstring injury in defeat.ย

Chiefs vs. Commanders Prediction

Based on Kansas Cityโ€™s improving defensive record and their extra rest for MNF, my Chiefs vs Commanders prediction is the Commanders Team Total Under 18.5 Points (-125).ย

As indicated by the game line, itโ€™s presumed Daniels wonโ€™t be ready in time for Mondayโ€™s game.ย

Additionally, both Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel could miss Mondayโ€™s game.ย

Absences by the two wide receivers and Daniels could prove detrimental. In Week 7, Washington managed only seven points against Dallas behind Mariota.ย

Of course, itโ€™s also a team that put up 41 against Las Vegas and 27 against Atlanta with Mariota.ย

However, Washington builds its offensive success by running the ball. Entering Week 8, Kliff Kingsburyโ€™s offense ranks 11th in rush offense DVOA, per ftnfantasy.com.ย

Kansas City ranks 13th in the corresponding defensive category. Itโ€™s the second-hardest matchup of the season for Washington in that regard (Week 2 at Green Bay).ย

In that contest, Washington managed only 18 points. Fifteen of those came in the fourth quarter while down two touchdowns.ย

Plus, the Chiefs defense has performed markedly better at home. Only two opponents has cleared 18.5 points against Steve Spagnuoloโ€™s defense in Kansas City this season.ย

That comes having faced the Eagles, Lions, Ravens and Raiders.ย

While Washington marks an upgrade in offensive quality over Vegas, itโ€™s still a nightmare spot with the Chiefs earning extra rest.ย

Given those factors, I predict Washington stays under this benchmark for the second time this season.ย
