Anthony Weaver begins his second year with the Miami Dolphins as defensive coordinator.
Weaver took over for Vic Fangio, who left after the 2023 season. In his first season, Weaver’s defense ranked fourth in yards allowed per game and 10th in points allowed.
Before Miami, Weaver earned coaching experience at five other NFL teams.
He started in 2012 as an assistant defensive line coach with the Jets. A year later, he began a seven-year stint as a defensive line coach with four teams:
- Buffalo Bills (2013)
- Cleveland Browns (2014-15)
- Houston Texans (2016-19)
For the 2020 season, Houston promoted Weaver to defensive coordinator. Houston’s defense struggled by finishing 27th in points allowed per game.
Weaver found his next stop in Baltimore for three years. In 2021, he worked as the defensive line coach and defensive run game coordinator.
In his final two years with Baltimore, Weaver served as the defensive line coach and an associate head coach.
To pair with his NFL experience, Weaver spent two years in college. After a year at Florida as a grad assistant, he moved to North Texas as the linebackers coach.
