  • The Eagles have $22.3 million in salary cap space this offseason.
  • As of Feb. 26, only 11 teams have fewer salary cap space than Philadelphia.
  • This offseason, positional targets include defensive line and linebacker.

Based on Eagles odds, Philadelphia finds itself as the favorite to win Super Bowl 60.ย

The Eagles captured their first Super Bowl win since 2017 last February. To repeat, Howie Roseman has to construct a roster with minimal cap space.ย

Philadelphia has $22.3 million in salary cap space and $19.8 million in effective cap space.ย

Virtually all of Philadelphiaโ€™s key free agents fall on defense. Linebacker Zack Baun, along with defensive lineman Josh Sweat and Milton Williams, are all free agents this offseason.ย

Eagles Cap Space: Free Agent Position Targets

Itโ€™s unlikely the Eagles will retain all three of the aforementioned players, given their limited cap room.ย

As a result, keeping the quality of the front seven likely proves a priority for Roseman. Last year, the Eagles led the league in defensive DVOA a year after finishing in the bottom half.ย

In addition to the defense, right tackle appears to be a priority for the Eagles.ย

Starting right tackle Mekhi Becton, who played 78% of snaps last season, is an unrestricted free agent this offseason.ย

If Becton departs, the Eagles could attempt to find a cheaper option. Alternatively, Roseman could look to the draft for a replacement.ย

Re-Sign Zack Baun

Baun should be the priority for Philadelphia despite their limited cap space.ย

Baun signed on a one-year deal last offseason and now could see a big pay jump after establishing himself as one of the leagueโ€™s top linebackers.ย

Amongst players who played 80% or more of defensive snaps last season, Baun led the league in PFFโ€™s defensive grades.ย

Baun played just under 90% of snaps for the Eagles last season, so replacing him would prove a tall task.ย

Currently, the top linebackerโ€™s average guarantee per year is $10.45 million, so Baun would command a chunk of Philadelphiaโ€™s cap space.ย

Still, it would appear a worthwhile investment given Baunโ€™s performance last year.
