- The Eagles are predicted to be -6.5-point favorites against the Falcons.
- Kirk Cousins is 3-10 SU in his previous 13 games on Monday Night Football.
- My prediction for Sunday’s game is A.J. Brown’s receiving yards prop.
Following a Week 1 win in Brazil, the Eagles return home to play the Falcons on Monday Night Football.
Philadelphia, as short neutral site favorites to Green Bay, used a strong performance from Saquon Barkley to win 34-29 in Sao Paulo.
The Falcons season got off to a rocky start. As home favorites against the Steelers, Atlanta fell 18-10 despite keeping Pittsburgh out of the endzone.
Here’s a look at the NFL betting lines and my Eagles vs. Falcons prediction.
Eagles vs. Falcons Odds
- Philadelphia Eagles Moneyline: -300
- Atlanta Falcons Moneyline: +240
- Game Spread: Philadelphia Eagles -6.5 (-115)
- Game Over/Under: 47 Points
Eagles vs. Falcons Prediction, MNF
My prediction for Eagles vs. Falcons on MNF is A.J. Brown Over 78.5 Receiving Yards (-120).
It cannot be overstated how poor the matchup sets up for Atlanta’s secondary against Philly’s aerial attack.
In Week 1 against Pittsburgh — a shorthanded offensive line with a bad passer — the Falcons ranked 29th in pass rush win rate.
Now they’re facing an Eagles offensive line that ranked sixth in the corresponding offensive category a year after finishing seventh in pass block win rate.
That’s going to give Jalen Hurts ample time to throw against a weak Falcons secondary.
Brown finished eighth last year in PFF’s wide receiver grades. Of the current Falcons corner group, none finished higher than 39th in coverage grades.
Dating back to the beginning of last season, Brown cleared this number in 11 of 19 regular season contests.
Brown was even better with extra time to prepare.
Following a Week 2 Thursday night game last season, Brown returned in Week 3 to catch nine passes for 131 yards against the Bucs, who ranked 22nd in dropback EPA per play.
The Falcons ranked 21st in passing EPA per play allowed last season. Ignore their strong performance against Pittsburgh and take Brown over receiving yards.
Another Eagles vs. Falcons Prediction I have for Monday Night Football is the Philadelphia Spread (-0.5) as the first leg of a two-team, six-point teaser.
This is largely a fade of Kirk Cousins on Monday Night Football.
Cousins has played the Eagles two straight years in primetime. He lost in a Week 2 cover on Thursday last year and went 0-1 SU and ATS on Monday Night in 2022.
For his career, Cousins is 3-10 SU on Monday Night Football, including 1-7 as an underdog and 0-5 as a road underdog.
Even more concerning: Cousins faces an Eagles team playing on extended rest.
Conference favorites with between 10 and 15 days between games are 63.8% ATS, assuming two factors:
- The underdog played at home the previous week
- The underdog’s previous game margin fell between -11 and +11
Those teams are also 75% against a six-point teaser.
