After spending two seasons with the Rams, Jimmy Garoppolo enters the 2026 free agent pool.

The 12-year NFL veteran – entering his age 35 season – started only one game in two years with the Rams. Not since the 2022 season has he started at least 10 games.

Accordingly, Garoppolo is likely a short-term option for teams seeking a veteran presence.

Jimmy Garoppolo Contract: Predicting Garoppolo’s Free Agency Deal

Given Garoppolo’s wait for a new contract, it’s probably safe to assume he’ll receive a one- or two-year agreement.

The Eastern Illinois product previously signed a two-year agreement with the Rams at age 33. There, Los Angeles paid him an average annual value of just over $3 million per season.

In terms of his contract this year, Garoppolo likely sees a deal similar to Teddy Bridgewater’s. The latter signed with the Lions for $2.5 million guaranteed with a max value of $5 million.

Both Garoppolo and Bridgewater are the same age. Of course, Bridgewater carries a higher risk as a backup quarterback given his injury history.

Look for Garoppolo to sign with a more quarterback-needy team around $3 million annually.

Jimmy Garoppolo Next Team Predictions

Could Garoppolo reunite with the Las Vegas Raiders? He previously spent a season with Las Vegas before taking a contract with the Rams.

Las Vegas previously expressed its desire to start presumed top pick Fernando Mendoza later in the season. If that’s true, a veteran quarterback is needed to fill the early games.

Only Aidan O’Connell finds himself on the Raiders’ quarterback depth chart. Given his familiarity with the organization, Garoppolo could prove an option in Sin City.

Garoppolo could also re-sign with the Rams, unless Los Angeles drafts a quarterback.

Currently, Stetson Bennett is slated to back up 39-year-old Matthew Stafford in Los Angeles. Garoppolo offers significantly more stability than Bennett, who has yet to play an NFL game.
